RE-WRITING MEMORY

About the exhibition

Although the two participating artists have not met previously, their works show similar sensitivity and consciousness. In her installations Adriane Wachholz combines traditional, but large size pencil drawings and found objects with video projection, with the aim of extinguishing the apparent contradictions of the genres. She often applies elements from the cultural environment of the site, re-interpretating them with the help of video technology. In her experimental, yet perfectly executed video animations Marianne Csáky researches the interaction of different times and cultures. Both artists have elaborated their own special and very sensitive artistic languages, which are very suggestive.

Recently Adriane Wachholz took advantage of grants and international residency programmes to develop her artistic work. Among some national prizes in 2008 she won the Nam June Paik Prize for artists from the region of North Rhine-Westphalia.

Marianne Csáky is a renowned artist, who participated in the recent years in international residency programmes in China and South Korea. Since 2011 she has been living and working in Brussels.
